Use WhatsApp in Your Web Browser

Good news for those you who use WhatsApp. The Facebook-owned chat app is now available in your Web browser.
WhatsApp announced the news Wednesday, confirming recent rumors that it was planning to soon introduce a Web client for in-browser chatting. "Our Web client is simply an extension of your phone: the Web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device — this means all of your messages still live on your phone," WhatsApp founder Jan Koum wrote in a post on his Facebook page.
At this point, however, it only works with Android, BlackBerry, BlackBerry 10, and Windows Phone versions of the app. Koum said the company is not able to provide a Web client for iOS users at this time due to "Apple platform limitations."
To connect WhatsApp to your Web browser, simply openweb.whatsapp.com in Chrome. You'll see a QR code — scan that inside of WhatsApp, and voila. Your phone will need to stay connected to the Internet for the Web client to work, Koum said. Also, ensure that you're using the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone.
"We really hope you find Web client useful in your everyday lives," Koum said.
Meanwhile, the new Web client comes after WhatsApp cracked down on third-party app WhatsApp Plus, and punished users who downloaded it. The company has cut off access to the unauthorized WhatsApp Plus app, which provided additional customization options for the SMS service. WhatsApp Plus users who tried to return to WhatsApp are now being locked out for 24 hours for breaking the rules.

WhatSim Lets You Use WhatsApp for Free While Roaming Worldwide

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging services worldwide, with the company recently announcing 700 million monthly active users. Now, in an attempt to woo the largeWhatsApp user base, an Italian company has launched WhatSim, a WhatsApp-only SIM that comes with a plan that will let you use the popular messaging app for free while travelling across about 150 countries.
(Also see: WhatsApp Now Available via Your Desktop Browser)
Manuel Zanella Rngineer, Founder and CEO of Zeromobile, the company behind WhatSim, says, "WhatsApp is the future of mobile communications. Its only "limit" is the data connection especially when you are traveling because the roaming charges are expensive and you can't always find Wi-Fi everywhere and it is not always free. As someone who appreciates and uses WhatsApp, I tried to figure out how to get around this problem. That's why WhatSim is an extraordinary opportunity for WhatsApp."

For EUR 10 (approximately Rs. 714), users will get a SIM card (standard worldwide shipping is EUR 5 - Rs. 350 approximately) unlimited text messaging for a year. While sending and receiving text messages, location updates, and contacts via WhatsApp is free, users will have to buy credits for sharing multimedia messages such as photos, videos, and voice messages. How much you get for your credits depends on where you are travelling.
Zanella further explains, "The solution we have developed is simple and intuitive. With €5 you get 1000 credits that you can use, for instance, to exchange 50 photos or 10 videos in many countries around the world. There are no limits to sharing your position and contacts. This way we guarantee the utmost transparency. Buying a recharge is quick and easy: just go to our website even from your smartphone and soon even from a dedicated app."
WhatSim is available to buy via the WhatSim website, with the company also planning to make it available via "network of local distributors in over 100 countries."
Of course this is not the first time someone's offering a SIM with unlimited WhatsApp usage, though earlier attempts have been limited to a specific country. Last year, WhatsApp, in partnership with E-Plus, a mobile telecommunications operator in Germany, started selling prepaid SIMs that offered unlimited WhatsApp usage.

How to Make a Bootable USB Disk for Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP

Ever faced a virus attack on your PC? Have an old laptop that refuses to boot up one fine day, throwing up errors such as bootmgr missing or NTLDR missing? Your best option in both these cases may be to reinstall Windows on your computer. When you first use your computer, you're prompted to create a DVD backup of your Windows install, but keeping a DVD safely and not losing it can be a bother. Being able to reinstall Windows using a USB you just keep nearby can be a big help, and to do this all you need to do first is create a bootable Windows USB drive. This is also very helpful if you bought a compact laptop - many smaller new devices don't have a DVD drive.

Remember you'll need a working Windows install (any version) to do this - if your computer won't boot, use a friend's to follow these steps.
Here's everything you need to know about the process.

Windows 7
The first thing you need is a Windows ISO or an image file. This is a virtual copy of a Windows installation DVD and you can source this legally from Microsoft without a product key. Here are the links for various edition of Windows 7.

You'll still need a valid product key when you reinstall Windows so make sure you keep that safely.

Once you've downloaded the Windows 7 ISO file, follow these steps to burn it to a pen drive.

Download the Windows USB/DVD tool from here and run it.
Click Browse and select the downloaded Windows 7 ISO file.
Click Next.
The next page asks whether you want to save this file to a USB or a DVD. Click USB device.
Connect a pen drive with at least 4GB space to your computer. Make sure you back up all data on the pen drive to your computer as it will be erased during this process.
Select your pen drive from the drop down menu and clickBegin copying.
When this process is complete, you'll have a bootable Windows 7 USB ready.

Windows 8
  1. Download the Windows Installation Media Creation Tool from here and run it.
  2. Select the Language from the first drop-down menu.
  3. Then select the Edition of Windows you want to install. Your choices are: Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 N, Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro N and Windows 8.1 Single Language.
  4. In the third drop-down menu next to Architecture choose whether you want a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the OS. If your computer has less than 3GB RAM, then pick 32-bit. If it has more than 3GB RAM, pick 64-bit. If you need to see which version you're running right now, right click on My Computer and select Properties. There, you'll see the information you need under Windows Edition and System type respectively.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Plug in a USB drive to your computer. Make sure that it has at least 4GB space. If there's any important data on the drive, create a backup as this process will erase the pen drive completely.
  7. Now you'll be asked to choose where to save the ISO file. Choose USB flash drive.
  8. Click Next.
  9. You'll see a list of USB drives connected to your computer. Select your pen drive from the list and click Next.
  10. Now the Media Creation Tool will begin downloading the ISO straight to your pen drive. When the download completes, click Finish.

Windows XP

  1. Go to the Windows XP SP3 ISO download page.
  2. Select the language from the drop-down menu and click the big red Download button.
  3. Download a free programme such as ISOtoUSB to burn the image to a pen drive. There are a lot of apps that let you do this and you can use any of these. We found ISOtoUSB easy to use and light, so we picked it over others.
  4. Install ISOtoUSB on your computer and open it.
  5. Click Browse and select the downloaded Windows XP ISO file.
  6. Plug in a pen drive with at least 1GB free space to your computer. All data on this pen drive will be erased so make sure you have a backup.
  7. In ISOtoUSB, select the pen drive from the drop-down menu.
  8. Click the checkbox next to Bootable
  9. Click Burn.
When the process is complete, a bootable Windows XP USB drive will be ready.
Booting and installing Windows
Now you have a bootable pen drive ready, you can boot off this drive and install Windows. Installing Windows is quite straightforward, but the steps leading up to it may vary a little depending on the manufacturer of your computer. We've added a brief explanation below on how to do this.

When you're booting up the computer, on the very first screen, you'll see a text which says something like "Press Del to Enter BIOS". Press whatever key is listed - this is usually Delete, or one of F1, F2, F8, or F12 - when the computer is booting, to enter the BIOS. There, you need to find a menu like Advanced BIOS settings, and select USB as the primary boot device. Now, you need to save and exit BIOS - the key to do so will be listed on-screen, but it is usually F10. Plug in the USB, and when you reboot, you'll start the install process for Windows on your computer. Follow on screen instructions to install Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows XP.

LG G3 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update: How to Install CyanogenMod [Official] CM12 Custom ROM [Tutorial]

LG has already released the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop to the company's 2014 flagship LG G3 in select regions across the globe.

LG G3 owners who are interested to experience the newer, visually appealing interface and other numerous (almost unlimited) customisation options can try installing the new CyanogenMod CM12 series Android 5.0.2 Lollipop custom ROM.

This new CM12 milestone software is a nightly version of the AOSP (Android Open Project) 5.0.2 Lollipop update. We like to remind our readers that this nightly version is unstable and has some un-tested bugs in it. Hence, readers are advised to go thorough the whole tutorial article before going ahead with the installation.

Some of features that are missing in the nightly version are:
Theme Engine
Quick Settings reorganization and customization
Quick Settings Ribbon mode
Navigation bar reorganization and customization
Sound panel customization
Lock-screen quick unlock

[Note: Cyanogen team has confirmed that they have completed 85-percent of development of the stable firmware and would roll-out it soon. Until then users can upgrade their device with nightly update.]

Prerequisites (Things to remember before installing the CyanogenMod CM12 Nightly):
Users are advised to update their third party addons to ensure compatibility
The CM backupscript.sh in recovery will ignore and remove incompatible applications from your system partition (these are usually non-CM apps that users have opted to install). You must install a compatible app (or app pack) to regain that functionality
You can flash CM12 nightlies directly from CM11 M12 or CM 11 nightlies (no need to wipe), provided you read and followed items 1 and 2
Once on CM12 nightlies, you cannot downgrade back to CM11 without wiping – if you are thinking of just exploring the release, then take a backup of your existing installation if you want to go back to it.
Users must install Lollipop OS compatible recovery before installing the new CM12 custom ROM.
Make sure the device is rooted before going forward for custom ROM installation
This new CyanogenMod CM12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware has to be installed on the LG G3 (D850, D851, D852 and D855) models only ; if tried on other devices, it might get bricked [To check your device model: Go to Settings >> About phone >> model number]
Installation of custom ROM requires clearing of memory in the smartphone, so make sure to back all the data by installing Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/ TWRP in the smartphone.
Users make sure you have installed USB drivers on the PC, or else your smartphone (LG G3) will not be recognized by the computer.
Make sure your device has more than 80 percent battery, or else there is a chance of smartphone getting temporarily bricked if the installation process is interrupted mid-way.

[Disclaimer: This procedure is very technical and should be performed by a person with sound knowledge of rooting (or manual software installation) Android devices. If the step-by-step installation process is not followed properly, there are chances of the smartphone getting bricked or being permanently irreparable. International Business Times, India Edition cannot be held responsible for any damage or claims from readers if the procedure does not yield the required results or if the smartphone is bricked. Hence, users are advised to proceed with caution.]

Step 9: Then tap 'choose zip from sdcard' and go to Android 5.0.2 ROM .zip file in SD card and enter the installation process. Repeat the same procedure to install Google Apps [Note: use 'Volume' keys to navigate and 'Power' button to select options]
